Pioneer DDJ-200 Controller for WeDJ for iPhone and rekordbox DJ for PC/Mac
The newest entrant to Pioneer's stable of controllers is the DDJ-200 which allows you to mix across the whole range of platforms and to pull tunes from a host of streaming services. It's ideal for someone who wants to start mixing their music without going out to buy a lot of kit straightaway - or even buying the music! Integrated tutorial and in-app hints help in learning the ropes on WeDJ and rekordbox DJ, and WeDJ takes synching to the next level - matching not just the beat but the phrasing of the music. The DDJ-200 is the only controller for this.
What software can I use?
PLEASE NOTE - Spotify is no longer supported on anything.
There's a range of apps for phones and tablets on iOS and Android, and another for Mac/PC. Each of these works with different streaming services.
Play tracks via your smartphone or PC/Mac using a variety of DJ apps and software including Pioneer DJ's dedicated, free app WeDJ for iPhone, as well as djay and edjing Mix. Depending on your device and the program you choose, you can mix music stored in your iTunes or rekordbox library, or stream songs from Beatport LINK, SoundCloud Go+, Deezer, TIDAL or even Beatsource LINK.
Can I get DJ lessons?
Learning to DJ can be daunting and frustrating if you're thrown in at the deep end, but with the DDJ-200 and WeDJ for iPhone you can use the Tutorial feature which gives you the basics of DJing. Finc out how to connect the controller to your devies and how to use various features and effects and pick up tips on performance techniques.
WeDJ for iPhone also offers the Pop-Hint feature that explains the functions of buttons without switching screens. If you’ve never handled DJ hardware before, these features will help you get up and running, and performing, in no time.
Can I fake it?
Yes, you can. The DDJ-200 can reproduce various patterns of DJ mixes between tracks for people with no experience behind the decks. Activate the Transition FX feature in WeDJ, choose from 11 patterns*6 and simply slide the crossfader to switch from one track to the next via a professional-standard transition.
Pioneer's phrase analysis algorithms will analyze the composition of your tracks and detect phrases. When you tap the dedicated buttons in WeDJ for iPhone, Phrase Sync uses the information from this analysis to align the start and end positions of the phrases in two tracks so you can be sure it will sound natural when you switch between them. The DDJ-200 is the world’s first DJ controller to offer this kind of feature*7.
Can I carry it?
Take the DDJ-200 wherever you want, thanks to its lightweight and slim body. There’s no need to carry speakers because you can play sound from the built-in speaker of your smartphone, tablet, or PC/Mac. And the DJ controller can be powered via a power bank*8, so you don’t even need to stay close to an outlet.
Where do I plug my speakers / headphones in?
So you spotted that! The DDJ-200 is just for controlling - the sound output comes from your phone/tablet/PC/Mac and you can use the supplied splitter cable to separate the output between the master (for the dancefloor) and the monitor (for you eg. to cue the next track).
